A new focus and ideas for NoisyCat [Sep. 8th, 2008|01:28 am]

After some planning and a lot of thinking, I have decided to revamp NoisyCatCreations.com and reopen my art studio. I took a hiatus mainly from burnout. I used to spend eight hours straight doing CG coloring and many hours of drawing for a publisher that didn't live up to its word, and it drained me so much I stopped drawing for some time and stopped using Photoshop at all. The last major update to what was formerly Urusai Neko was 2004.

This past year I started drawing again. I realized that my favorite works were ones in which I used references and studied and researched for. I began experimenting with colored pencils and Copic sketch markers. I also began to throw myself into fiber arts by learning to knit and crochet. From the beginning I made up my own patterns after I got the hang of things.

So, it is with great happiness that I will be focusing some time on giving NoisyCat a good scrubbing and revamp. Because Urusai Neko is not a very marketable name, a couple years ago I got NoisyCat Creations as a domain name. I will be keeping this name in honor of my beloved original Noisy Cat Gidget, for whom my studio was named, and a nod to my current noisy vrooming muse, Moxie.

The comics section of the site will be mostly dismantled, the fanart and original art will be moved to an "older" section, the biography made more mature and a new "Fiber Art" section which will eventually be linked to an Etsy store selling pouches, bags and stuffed animals.

I am working on several projects at the moment, and because of the level of research and love going into them, they are going to be show worthy pieces. I am working on my elefaunt who will be joined, eventually, by two other pieces.

It will take some time as I'm pretty busy and have to reteach myself html and dreamweaver (my website was hand coded). Plus I am working on a bunch of pouches, bags, etc to start off with. We will be pitching the bags to a local shop which is expanding its inventory to lifestyle pieces (I'm almost embarrassed to admit, it's a pipe/glassware shop but I think my organic style will go well there).

Anyway, I'm sitting here crocheting a cute little bag and thought I'd share my excitement and pleasure with you all. I will be taking a photo of my larger illustration soon and will share its early stages with you.

Thanks everyone for being supportive of me and for being awesome :)
